Hexane LLE

While it may appear to be a straightforward switch from Freon® to Hexane, working with a less dense solvent is much more cumbersome. The procedure is more labor intensive requiring more transfer steps, which results in the potential loss of the analyte and less reproducibility.

Solid Phase Extraction

SPE is a highly reproducible, simple, two step procedure that doesn't create emulsions and requires less solvent, thereby reducing cost. In most cases SPE results are more similar to results obtained by Freon® LLE than by hexane LLE methods.
